The tiger finial featured on this helmet is one of today’s rarest finial types. This finial is constructed from stuffed leather with an aluminum insert and measures over 6 inches long. This helmet was worn by a member of the Oregon Engine Company No. 11 of New Bedford, Massachusetts, in 1861.
